Nido de los Aguiluchos, Monterrey: Hiking + Rock Climbing + 3 Rappels

1.Nido de los Aguiluchos, Monterrey: Hiking + Rock Climbing + 3 Rappels

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 713 reviews · 7 hours (approx.) · from $115Our pick

Monterrey’s Nido de los Aguiluchos pairs a demanding hike with assisted climbing, three rappels, zip lines, and striking Huasteca views.

“Great experience with great guides! the initial hike to the first view point is tough so best to have a moderate fitness level, after that the traversing and climbing of the ridge to the peak is manageable if you have done any form of wall/rock climbing before. The rappelling was an amazing experience getting to view the entire valley while suspended midair hundreds of feet above the ground.”

“This experience was absolutely incredible! The hike struck the perfect balance between adventure, breathtaking coastal scenery, and exploring beautiful hidden beaches that felt untouched. Our guide José made the day unforgettable. He was friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable about the area, always making sure everyone felt safe and included. His passion for the region really showed and added so much to the adventure. Everything was well organized from start to finish. I wouldn’t change a thing, highly recommend this tour, especially with José as your guide!”

“Maury was the best guide ever! He’s so kind and really shapes the trip to meet your expectations. He was so helpful to EVERYONE… even people that weren’t on the tour with us. If he saw someone trying to climb up a difficult rock, or jump off a ledge, or trying to find the trail, he was right there with them helping them and cheering them on. Just a good person with a good heart. I would highly recommend and so glad we did it. It was probably one of the highlights of our trip. Maury is also a surfing guide and I would hire him to teach me to…”

“HIGHLY recommend. I have nothing negative to say about this breathtaking and memorable day. Felipe and Sergio were incredibly friendly, organized, knowledgeable and professional while having fun. This trip has it all! Bring plenty of water, wear good shoes that can get wet, and be ready for an adventure. You will not regret it. We did it with our two teenage kids and they absolutely loved the whole day as well. We have traveled the world, and this is easily top five excursions we have ever done.”

We saw so many beautiful, interesting things in this little village be took us to. The hike itself is on a variety of terrain, and relatively short, but challenging. The waterfall swim was super-fun and unique, and then we went to a nearby beach and hung out, swam, and had food and drinks. Cannot recommend highly enough!”

“Great tour for those who are up for hiking and exploring beautiful beaches that are only accessible by boat or on foot. This was the only tour we took on this vacation as we were interested in discovering some pretty cool and remote beaches while being outdoors and hiking in an area new to us. Gerry was our guide, and was super upbeat, chatty, knowledgeable, and made sure to point out things we may have missed otherwise on the journey (such as guiding us over a boulder outcropping to catch amazing views and pointing out a massive amount of flora and fauna along the way).”

Review the Nevado Toluca hike from Mexico City, with high-altitude lagoons, private transfers, guide quality, weather risks, and value tips.

“I would not reccomend this tour. From the moment my husband and I entered the vehicle with our guide (who was very kind), I was skeptical of the weather. However, I was emphatically reassured that the weather would hold up, that the rain would stop and that the fog would clear somewhat so we would be able to see the summit and the lagoon. When we arrived to the mountain, it was clearly still raining and the wind was blowing so hard it was rattling our vehicle. The fog was so dense you couldn't see anything below. We ended up leaving shortly afterwards and returning to our accomodation without completing…”
